Window Glass Repair Limitations
The size, location, and condition of the stone chip are important considerations in determining weather it can be repaired. A windshield CAN NOT be repaired if:
- The damage is larger than one square inch (About the size of a quarter)
- The stone chip is in the drivers acute vision area (12 inch X 12 inch area directly in front of the driver)
- The stone chip has an outside pit larger than 3/8 inch
- The damage penetrates both the outside and inside layers of the windshield
- The stone chip is on the inside layer of the windshield
- The stone chip has contaminates that can not be removed by cleaning
- The damage has had a previous repair attempted
- The windshield has special features such as certain types of solar coating or electric heating
